about

'Aphonia' is a track from 'Migration,' Lykanthea's debut release and the first in a series of releases inspired by the 4,000-year-old Sumerian tale of the goddess Inanna. Over the course of five songs, it shares the range of personal revelations and challenges Inanna faces during a transformative journey to and back from the underworld.

Migration drops July 29, 2014 digitally and on cassette. For more info on the EP, head to lykanthea.bandcamp.com/about-migration.

lyrics

I waited. You robbed my tomb, wore my flesh as your shield, though filled with tears. Hearing your dream, your cry of guilt, a thousand hands led me to an island. Where the seas meet, they shape cities. They summon me. From stillness into motion, I'll push my boat from a grey shore. Veiled sky rotates, shifting, flaring. Marrowed armor at my temples, at my forearms, flashes upward.
